The Screen Junkies’ Honest Trailer team knows the chips are stacked against Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The show’s premise was literally blown up during Captain America: Winter Soldier and the show can only name-drop most of its theatrical brethren without expecting Thor or the Hulk to actually appear. And so despite the Honest Trailer crew’s mocking of the show, they’re impressed the show works as well as it does … from what they’ve heard.

The latest honest trailer tackles Marvel’s first major television project, in the days before Agent Carter and the Marvel/Netflix series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage. The trailer tracks the ups and downs of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s story, criticism, and attempts to stand on its own while still being tied into the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Watch the trailer above to see the franchise’s penchant for emotionally charged staring, ridiculous holograms, and the need for every character to ensure the protection of their fellow agents. Whether you agree with their criticisms, the trailer will at least forever make you look at Agent Coulson’s walk just a little differently.
