Oscars diversity: SNL sketch tackles Straight Outta Compton, Creed, Beasts of No Nation snubs

In light of the ongoing controversy surrounding the lack of diversity among this year’s Oscar nominees, SNL spoofed the issue in a sketch from Saturday’s episode.
The “Screen Guild Awards” saw Cecily Strong announce the award winner for Best Actor and honor the nominees. “There were so many great performances this year, it’s a shame we couldn’t nominate more. But I think we can all agree these were the best of the best.”
And the nominees are…basically a group of white men who were in supporting, background, or uncredited roles in African-American-led films, such as Punching Upward, Shut ‘Em Down, and All the Beasts of Heaven. In fact, these are all spoofs of Creed, Straight Outta Compton, and Beasts of No Nation, three films that were snubbed by this year’s Oscars.
