Hunt for the Wilderpeople: Thor 3 director Taika Waititi Sundance film teased
Taika Waititi, who’ll tackle Thor: Ragnarok for Marvel, premiered a much smaller film during the Sundance Film Festival this week. Take a peek at the wild and crazy Hunt for the Wilderpeople in its first teaser.
The young Julian Dennison stars as “the very bad egg” Ricky Baker, a defiant New Zealand city kid raised on hip-hop and foster care. How bad is he? By the looks of the teaser, pretty, pretty bad.
According to the official plot synopsis, “He finds himself at home with his new foster family: the loving Aunt Bella, the cantankerous Uncle Hec, and dog Tupac. When a tragedy strikes that threatens to ship Ricky to another home, both he and Hec go on the run in the bush. As a national manhunt ensues, the newly branded outlaws must face their options: go out in a blaze of glory or overcome their differences and survive as a family.”
Deadline was the first to premiere the Hunt for the Wilderpeople teaser.
Waititi, who also wrote the screenplay for Hunt for the Wilderpeople, will begin filming on Thor: Ragnarok with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston this June in Queensland, Australia.
