Iggy Pop and Josh Homme release Gardenia off Post Pop Depression
'Gardenia' is available right now. The full collection will debut March 18.
On Thursday, Iggy Pop and Josh Homme announced they were working on a collaborative album, Post Pop Depression. Friday now brings the release of their first single, “Gardenia,” and news that the collection will be out March 18.
Pop and Homme, who is best known for his work in Queens of the Stone Age and Eagles of Death Metal, debuted the track on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert on Thursday night, and in an interview with Colbert, the duo spoke about the collection. When asked how the collab came about, Iggy Pop said, “I proposed to text from my flip phone. I thought maybe we could write something and record it.”
Homme said they recorded Post Pop Depression near Joshua Tree, California for about three weeks. “When you make a record that no one is aware you’re doing it you’re kind of making it for each other.”
