David Bowie tribute concert adds Cat Power, Michael Stipe, Laurie Anderson
Cat Power, Michael Stipe, Laurie Anderson join lineup
The upcoming David Bowie tribute concert at Carnegie Hall, which was planned before the rock legend’s death Sunday, has added a second night at Radio City Music Hall and performances by Michael Stipe, Laurie Anderson, and Cat Power.
The bill for the March 31 Carnegie Hall show (which has sold out) will include the new artists in addition to previously announced performers the Roots, Perry Farrell, Bettye LaVette, Ann Wilson, Jakob Dylan, the Mountain Goats, and Robyn Hitchcock.
The lineup for the Radio City show the next night will feature Cat Power, Farrell, Wilson, and the Polyphonic Spree.
Michael Dorf, who is producing the event, told EW earlier this week that the show would go on after Bowie’s unexpected death. “Obviously we thought we were going to be paying tribute to a living legend, and now we’ll be paying tribute to a legend who passed,” he said.
A message on the concert website reads, “This year’s concert will certainly be remembered as a poignant celebration of his music by his friends, peers, and fans.”
