Fans worldwide have been remembering David Bowie in various ways since his death on Sunday. One such fan is the Oscar-winning singer Glen Hansard (Once), who stopped by Bowie’s New York apartment Tuesday night to pay his respects by performing an acoustic cover of Bowie’s 1980 song “Ashes To Ashes” over the memorial fans made for the late singer.

The video was taken by rock photographer Kevin Mazur, who went to Bowie’s SoHo apartment and filmed the moving tribute before knowing that the singer was Hansard.

“I stopped by David’s home to pay my respects and take photos. While I was taking photos this guy walks up, takes out his guitar, and plays a beautiful version of of ‘Ashes To Ashes,'” Mazur said in an email to EW. “With tears running down my face, I decided to shoot video. That guy happened to be Oscar-winning musician Glen Hansard.”

According to Mazur, Hansard left just as suddenly as he appeared: “The fans begged for more, but he packed up his guitar and disappeared into the night.” Check out the full performance above.
