Did President Obama just take a page out of Coach Taylor’s playbook?

While wrapping up his final State of the Union address Tuesday evening, Obama referred to America as “the country we love. Clear-eyed. Big-hearted. Optimistic that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.”

The turn of phrase was eloquent and deeply felt — and for many viewers, reminiscent of the famous catchphrase from NBC’s football drama Friday Night Lights: “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose!”

Within moments of the president’s address, Twitter began lighting up with SOTU/FNL jokes. Here’s a sampling.
