Former Disney Channel Star Michael Galeota has died at age 31.

The actor’s body was discovered in his home Sunday, according to Los Angeles Medical Examiner records obtained by PEOPLE. The coroner has declared his death of natural causes and an autopsy is scheduled to take place in the near future.

TMZ reports that Galeota went to the hospital with abdominal pain last week, and left Wednesday against doctor’s advice. A friend reportedly became worried when he had not heard from Galeota, so he went to his Glendale home, where the friend found the actor’s body.

Galeota starred as Nick Lighter in Disney’s The Jersey from 1999–2004, with the series centering on four teenagers who discover a magic jersey that transports them into the bodies of pro athletes to live out their sports fantasies.

He also had small roles on episodes of ER and Ally McBeal in the 1990s, and was the lead in the short-lived CBS Saturday morning series Bailey Kipper’s P.O.V. (1996–1997), in which he stared as Bailey, a young electronics genius. On the big screen he appeared in Daniel Stern‘s Bushwhacked (1995), about a conman posing as a scout leader.
