Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Rachel Bloom was inspired by Tina Fey
- TV Show
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star, co-creator and newly minted Golden Globe winner Rachel Bloom has known she wanted to be a comedic actress since she was 3 years old, and over the years she’s drawn inspiration from many talented performers — from Ethel Merman to Vivian Blaine to Julie Brown.
But as Bloom recently told EW as part of the Pave the Way video series, one multitalented woman sits at the top of her personal pantheon.
“If I had to choose one, I would say Tina Fey,” Bloom reveals in the video. “In the past couple years, creating and performing in her own TV show has really embodied what I look up to. I’ve watched all of 30 Rock, it’s one of my favorite shows, and you just see that she’s got her s-‑‑ together, from start to finish, and it’s her vision and it’s her voice. That’s very inspirational to me.”
As for Bloom’s words of wisdom to those looking to follow in her own footsteps, she suggests, “Work hard, always be pushing yourself, always be open-minded, and follow the fun. … Do what feels unique to you, do what feels like it’s in your sweet spot — but keep pushing yourself in that sweet spot.”
