Felicity reboot: J.J. Abrams on whether he'd consider reviving the series
As more networks and streaming services look to reboots of old series — Fuller House, X-Files, Heroes Reborn, Prison Break, Gilmore Girls, and many more among them — to bring in new audiences, it seems like the library of series from J.J. Abrams is ripe for the picking.
Though Abrams has been a part of several reboots on the film side, with Star Trek, Star Wars, and Mission: Impossible, the prolific producer says he hasn’t considered bringing back any of his old TV series, like Felicity or Alias, in new formats or continuations.
“I do feel like I’ve been working on a number of reboots or sequels, enough so I really feel like I’ve had my share of those,” he said at the Television Critics Association’s press tour following a panel promoting his new Hulu project, 11.22.63, on Saturday. “I look forward to telling new stories and introducing new characters just because I’m hungry for that.”

Still, Abrams doesn’t totally rule it out, particularly when it comes to a Felicity reboot. “I did love doing that show so much and I loved working with those people,” he said. “I know it was a different time and everyone was just starting in that way, but that was such a special time working with that cast and that crew. I do miss that feeling of doing a show that is a romantic and smaller, intimate drama-comedy. I would love to do that — [though] not necessarily a Felicity reboot.”
For what it’s worth, a Felicity continuation could prove difficult. Though the cast recently reunited for EW’s Reunions issue, Keri Russell has her hands full with The Americans, Scott Foley is on Scandal, and Scott Speedman stars in TNT’s upcoming drama Animal Kingdom.
Abrams was busy on Saturday. He also addressed the “preposterous” lack of Rey merchandise for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, revealed whether The Force Awakens DVD will have an extended cut or deleted scenes, and noted that this was likely the final season of Person of Interest.
