Growing up, Alyssa Milano was the sweet onscreen daughter of Tony Danza on Who’s The Boss?, and Winona Ryder was the moody, goth teen from Beetlejuice. But according to Milano, she could’ve been helping Danza clean house and communicating with ghosts in Tim Burton’s cult classic.
“I did get close on a movie that I really, really wanted to get when I was a kid that Winona Ryder actually got, which was Beetlejuice,” Milano told The Huffington Post. “It was between the two of us, and she actually got the part. I always wondered what would’ve been different.”
Had Milano landed the role of Lydia Deetz, she might be starring in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel that Rider seemed to confirm over the summer. “I think I can confirm it,” she told Seth Meyers in August, “because Tim Burton did this interview — like, it was very hush hush, top secret … and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it,’ and I was like [shocked face].”
