Natalie Portman practices in Jane Got a Gun clip
There are two things that can be gleaned from this exclusive Jane Got a Gun clip. Lesson 1: Jane Hammond isn’t used to rocking revolvers. Lesson 2: You still shouldn’t mess with Jane Hammond.
During target practice with Dan Frost (Joel Edgerton), Jane (Natalie Portman) can’t get close to shooting off an axe handle. “Let’s hope the Bishop Boys are all very big and fat,” Dan comments. The skepticism only lingers for seconds, until Jane reaches for a rifle.
The film, set from Brian Duffield’s 2011 Blacklist screenplay, tracks Jane seeking protection against the Bishop Boys gang and their leader (Ewan McGregor) after her husband (Noah Emmerich) ends up on the wrong side of a duel. She can only turn to her former fiancé (Edgerton) to help defend her family.

The film has had trouble getting on screen. It was originally slated for a February 2015 release until Relativity Media filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in the summer. The Weinstein Company picked up distribution rights in September to set it back on track.
