'American Idol' premiere ratings lower than ever
The final season of American Idol has begun. And the ratings are the worst ever … and the best of the night.
Fox’s iconic competition series returned for the last time Wednesday night and delivered 10.9 million viewers and a 2.9 rating among adults 18–49 during. That’s down 9 percent from last year’s all-time-low premiere.

Still, the two-hour program was strong enough to beat every broadcast show on the air last night in the demo, including ABC’s Modern Family.
