Netflix to air Voltron, Guillermo del Toro's Trollhunters in 2016

Voltron is ready to form once again as a new take on the classic cartoon is set to hit Netflix in 2016, along with a new series from Guillermo del Toro.

Dreamworks and Netflix announced a deal Tuesday for Dreamworks Animation to produce a reimaging of the 1980s cartoon series about the titular robot and the interstellar explorers who brought its various parts together. Dreamworks and Netflix also announced Trollhunters, a series from Guillermo del Toro, which years ago had been set at Dreamworks as a feature film project from del Toro. A Trollhunters book was released earlier this year from del Toro and author Daniel Kraus.

The agreement also continues Netflix’s streaming rights to Dreamworks Animation series like The Adventures of Puss in Boots and Dinotrux, as well as a continued agreement to develop new original series.

No release date or other information about either series has been revealed.
