Bill Cosby's attorneys respond to sexual assault charge against him
Attorneys for Bill Cosby have responded to him being criminally charged with sexual assault, calling the case against him “unjustified” and vowing to “mount a vigorous defense.”
Cosby was arraigned in Pennsylvania court Wednesday in connection with an alleged incident at his home in 2004. He was released on $1 million bail.
His legal representatives at the Pressley Firm said in a statement, “The charge by the Montgomery County District Attorney’s office came as no surprise, filed 12 years after the alleged incident and coming on the heels of a hotly contested election for this county’s DA during which this case was made the focal point. Make no mistake, we intend to mount a vigorous defense against this unjustified charge and we expect that Mr. Cosby will be exonerated by a court of law.”
More than 50 women have accused Cosby of drugging and/or sexual assault, and Cosby has denied all of the allegations. Cosby filed a defamation lawsuit against seven of his accusers two weeks ago.
