Captain Cuts want to combine the pop hits of today and the emotional nostalgia of junior high days. The Los Angeles DJ trio, a regular mainstay of the popular Emo Nights at The Echo, released its debut mixtape Sunday titled If You’re Listening It’s Never Too Late.

Both the title and art play off Drake’s surprise February mixtape. There’s a litany of different combinations, some within emo itself (the opener is a Brand New/Jimmy Eat World joint), while others cross-genres (the penultimate track features Jimmy Eat World, CHVRCHES, One Bored Jeu, T.I., and Rihanna).
