  • Gérard Depardieu is set to play Joseph Stalin in Le Divan De Staline. The adaptation of a 2014 book by Jean-Daniel Baltassat is helmed by director and actress Fanny Ardant. Baltassat’s story follows a young painter (newcomer Paul Hamy) who is commissioned to create a fresco in Stalin’s honor. The French actor Depardieu, who in 2013 gained Russian citizenship, is joined in the film by French actress Emmanuelle Seinger. The film begins shooting next week in Portugal. [Deadline]
  • Gbenga Akinnagbe is set to lead the boxing biopic Heart, Baby! from writer-director Angela Shelton. The story is about George Lee Martin, a convict who gains notoriety for his fighting ability in prison. When offered freedom on the condition of competing in the 1984 Olympic Games, Martin declined. Filming begins next month in New Orleans. [Deadline]
