After co-writing Gravity with his father, Alfonso Cuarón, Jonás Cuarón is stepping behind the camera himself with the upcoming thriller Desierto.

The new trailer for the film features Gael García Bernal as one of several immigrants attempting to cross the U.S.-Mexican border. As they make their way through the harsh desert, a murderous and deranged vigilante, played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, begins to stalk them, picking them off one by one with the help of his Belgian Malinois.

Alfonso Cuarón produced the film, which was co-written by Jonás Cuarón and Mateo García.

Desierto premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this year and will hit theaters in spring 2016. Watch the trailer above.
