Whether he’s Captain Kirk or Jack Ryan, Chris Pine is used to playing the action hero.

But when he got the chance to be a part of the new Wonder Woman film, Pine says he was thrilled to give the ladies a chance to shine.

“It’ll be a f—— blast,” he told Total Film. “I couldn’t be happier to be supporting Gal [Gadot] in what’s going to be the first female-driven superhero film.”

While he may be leaving out a few of Gadot’s predecessors in the female action hero world — Halle Berry in Catwoman and Jennifer Garner in Elektra, for example — Pine’s heart is definitely in the right place.

“I think in the world today we’ve had plenty enough of male-driven everything,” he added. “It’s finally time to see how wonderful the world can be with beautiful, strong, intelligent women kicking some major ass.”

Pine is slated to play Steve Trevor, Wonder Woman’s main love interest, in the upcoming film. Wonder Woman and Trevor’s relationship is notable for flipping the typical “damsel in destress” cliché, where in this case, Trevor assumes the damsel role.

Wonder Woman is slated to hit theaters June 23, 2017.
