Dave Davies was performing at Assembly Hall in North London on Friday when he brought out his brother Ray for a reunion of The Kinks. The duo resurrected “You Really Got Me” for a performance, the first in approximately 20 years.
“We had a great night – it was a fun show – had a blast with Ray,” Dave wrote on Twitter following the performance, which you can watch above.

Since The Kinks disbanded in 1996, the brothers have been teasing the possibility of a reunion. When speaking to Rolling Stone in September, Dave said, “I’d say there’s an outside shot. But where there’s life, there’s hope. I know Ray has a lot coming up, and I do as well, so we’ll see how things span out in the next few months. A lot of it depends on how Ray and I feel by the end of the year, physically, emotionally and psychologically. I wish I could give you a more definitive answer, but I don’t want to jump the gun.”
Ray told London’s Sunday Times last year, “It’s as close as it’s ever been to happening,” and both brothers have been discussing the possibility of a reunion for the band’s 50th anniversary.
