Clint Eastwood’s Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger biopic has gotten a liftoff date.
Warner Bros. will release Sully, starring Tom Hanks as the veteran pilot behind the so-called “Miracle on the Hudson,” on Sept. 9, 2016,
Sullenberger, a former Air Force fighter pilot, safely landed U.S. Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River in January 2009, after both engines were knocked out by a flock of geese shortly after taking off from New York’s LaGuardia Airport. All 155 people on board survived.

“I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall,” Sullenberger said in a statement earlier this year. “The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team.”
Sully also stars Aaron Eckhart as Jeff Skiles, who was the first officer and co-pilot on the plane. Laura Linney will play Sullenberger’s wife, Lorraine. Todd Komarnicki penned the script for the Eastwood-directed film.
