Spotify makes Star Wars personality playlists
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is finally here. The long-awaited film has already sold nearly four times the amount of pre-sale tickets as Avengers: Age of Ultron, but that’s not stopping it from getting in some last-minute marketing. One of the most fun cross-platform tie-ins by far is a new Spotify quiz that analyzes your music listening habits to find your Star Wars personality match (if you don’t have a Spotify account, you can just select five representative artists and get a similar result).
If you want to cheat, you can go to Star Wars’ official Spotify account and check out all the individual playlists. They’re pretty entertaining. Han Solo’s, for example, is all classic rock from the ’60s and ’70s (Creedence Clearwater Revival, Buffalo Springfield). In other words, Han is all great dad music, which matches his role in the new film as everyone’s Space Dad:
New, already beloved droid BB-8 has made his mark as one of The Force Awakens’ most striking new additions to the franchise. Footage abounds in trailers of the round little droid rolling around the desert alongside Rey. As a result, his playlist is very “well-rounded” (ranging from Top 40 pop like “Uptown Funk” to mid-2000’s indie rock like The Postal Service, and everything in-between), with a particular focus on songs about “riding” or “rolling” (“Rolling in the Deep,” “Ridin'”).
Other hilarious combos include C-3PO’s classic orchestral arrangements, Boba Fett’s punk rock (all about “cool”), and Princess Leia’s feminist pop. Check them all out here, and find your own match.
