EARLIER: David Bowie’s Lazarus stage production opened last week in New York City, and Monday, the English legend released a teaser for the track that shares the show’s name, which will also appear on his upcoming album Blackstar.
The full version of “Lazarus” will make its debut Thursday, the day Michael C. Hall and the cast perform the murky rock cut on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Based on the snippet, “Lazarus” features heavy guitar alongside dark lyrics, in which Bowie admits he has “scars that can’t be seen.”
Bowie has already shared “Blackstar,” the title track from his 25th album, and it exudes the twisted obscurity expected from Bowie’s forthcoming record.
