Rose Siggins dead: American Horror Story: Freak Show actress was 43
Rose Siggins, who played Legless Suzy on American Horror Story: Freak Show, has died, EW has confirmed. She was 43.
Siggins died Saturday morning in Denver, where she went into a hospital for a kidney stone surgery on Monday and contracted a fatal infection, a rep told TMZ.
Siggins was born with a genetic disorder known as sacral agenesis, and her legs were amputated when she was 2 years old. In addition to her role on Freak Show, in which she played one of the “freaks” in the 1950s carnival run by Elsa Mars (Jessica Lange), she also appeared as herself on Ripley’s Believe It or Not and Extraordinary People.
“I kind of like the way I am, I would never change it,” she said in a video previewing her American Horror Story: Freak Show character last year. “I couldn’t imagine myself being what everyone called ‘normal,’ because this is my normal.”
Siggins is survived by two children. A GoFundMe page has been established to help support them.
Her American Horror Story costars Sarah Paulson, Denis O’Hare, and Angela Bassett are among those who paid tribute to Siggins on Twitter. You can see their messages below.
