What books from 2015 are fit for a President and a First Lady? In an interview with PEOPLE, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama reveal their favorite books of the past year, and as sweet as ever, the common theme of both of their selections is marriage.

President Obama, a well-known book-lover, said that the book he most enjoyed from 2015 was Fates and Furies by Lauren Groff. The novel follows a young married couple who seem to have it all in the eyes of their friends, but struggle to keep it together behind closed doors.

For her part, Michelle Obama praised The Light of the World by Elizabeth Alexander as her favorite book of the year. The Obamas are clearly a fan of Alexander, as she was the poet Barack chose to read at his 2009 inauguration, and her recent memoir flows like beautiful poetry. It describes Alexander’s turmoil and reflections on the sudden death of her husband, artist Ficre Ghebreyesus.
