Joey and Rory Feek’s little song that could, “If I Needed You,” was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Country Duo/ Group Performance category on Monday. The duo, who perform as Joey + Rory, have been chronicling Joey’s battle with cervical cancer on their blog This Life I Live, and after hearing news of the nomination, Rory shared a message with fans on Facebook.

“[W]oke my bride up this morning with a baby in my arms and the news that our version of ‘If I Needed You’ was nominated for a Grammy,” he wrote. “As her excitement and tears flowed into mine. She said, ‘[H]ow can that be?’… the song received no radio airplay… no press… no critical acclaim… and the only music video we made for it was to celebrate the day our little Indiana was born. God is so good. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Joey, 40 recently entered hospice care, and Rory has been updating their blog and social media accounts with details of her treatment. Last month, he wrote that they would release an album called Hymns That Are Important To Us on Valentine’s Day next year. “We recorded it in a studio in Nashville early in the summer – just after recovering from her first big surgery in Chicago,” he wrote, promising that the collection would be “special.”
