Horan. Niall Horan.

When the members of One Direction stopped by The Late Late Show on Thursday, Horan cleared up a James Bond-related telephone game that had been playing out in the media. In an interview with the U.K.’s Capital FM earlier this year, the group was asked who would make the best James Bond now that Daniel Craig appears to be waffling on whether he’ll return to the franchise following Spectre. Horan volunteered as tribute, also offering his Bond impression. Later, the same outlet asked Craig whether he thought Horan would make a good Bond. Naturally, Craig replied that Horan would be “absolutely fabulous” in the role, and headlines were made. (Realistically, what is a person meant to say to that? “No, they’d be garbage”?)

In any case, Horan made it clear that he’s not exactly making a go at the Bond mantle, but that he still does have a pretty excellent Bond impression. Check it out in the fake audition above as Corden plays the villain and Louis Tomlinson his pet cat. (Also see Liam Payne’s alarmed face when the audience goes into hysterics over Tomlinson climbing into Corden’s lap: “Someone’s dying out there!”)
