Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens

Daisy Ridley was moved to tears when she watched the final Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer for the first time — you can see her do it, since the video is on her Instagram. So it should surprise no one that she had a similar reaction after seeing the film in its entirety.

Ridley and costar John Boyega sat down for their first live interview on Tuesday’s Good Morning America, where the actress who plays Rey admitted she cried on the way to the airport after seeing the next film in the Star Wars saga.

“I came out [after the movie] and was like, ‘Yeah, I’m cool,’” she said, “and then in the car I was like [makes a crying face/noises] the whole way, and then the whole way home — a 10-hour journey.”

“It’s the first time I’ve ever really seen myself do something, so I was quite overwhelmed,” she added.

Boyega also gave his take on the film during the interview. “It’s so good. It is so good. This is a great reminder that Star Wars is back after so long, and it’s a great balance between the new generation and the old,” he said. “Full of action, full of passion, and it’s quite emotional. I enjoyed it.”

The actors also touched on the significance of having a female character at the forefront of the film, which hits theaters Dec. 18.

“It’s really exciting. The way I think about it is, if I had a little sister I would be so pleased for her to see the film,” said Ridley.
