  • Alicia Vikander will share top billing with James McAvoy in Submergence. The Ex Machina star joins the adaptation of J.M. Ledgard’s novel, a romantic thriller centered on a pair of lovers each facing life-and-death situations — one held captive by Somalian jihadists, while the other performs deep-sea research. Shooting on Wim Wenders‘ film, set from Erin Dignam‘s script, is slated for March. [Variety]
  • Janet Montgomery (Salem) has been tapped for Romans, the drama starring Orlando Bloom. The Shammasian Brothers‘ feature and Geoff Thompson‘s script details a man unable to fully handle the effects of being sexually assaulted while young by a highly regarded priest. Montgomery will play his wife. [Variety]
  • The Mad Axman, an adaptation of Gill Adams‘ play Jump to Cow Heaven, adds its three stars: Diarmaid Murtagh (The Monuments Men), Morgan Watkins (The Hour), and Elen Rhys (The Bastard Executioner). Director Will Kerley‘s first project is inspired by the true story of Frank Mitchell (Murtagh) who escapes prison and hides to endure a nationwide search for him. [Variety]
