The University of Southern California marching band kicked off its Saturday football game against the University of California, Los Angeles with a rousing performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” — with a little help from a rock star special guest.

Slash joined the USC marching band on electric guitar to perform the national anthem before kickoff at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The Guns ‘N Roses guitarist may have proved good luck for the Trojans: USC beat UCLA 40 to 21.
