Although Phil Lord and Chris Miller won’t be directing The Lego Movie Sequel, they are writing the script. As a Thanksgiving gift to the fans, Miller revealed that he submitted the first draft for the Chris Pratt-voiced follow-up.

“Just turned in the official first draft of LEGO Movie 2,” Miller tweeted recently. “Hello, Thanksgiving.”

Rob Schrab (Community, The Mindy Project) will helm the sequel, while Lord and Miller also produce the other Lego movies, including The Lego Batman Movie and Ninjago. Earlier this year, the pair spoke with Empire about The Lego Movie Sequel and teased some story elements.

“Well I don’t want to give you spoilers but we were really interested in what happens to that boy who’s in the meta story in the first movie when he’s four years older,” Miller said. “When he’s an adolescent how does that change his point of view? And it’s nice to have the characters start in a different place from the first movie. Emmet, for example, was in an existential crisis of having seen another dimension and was questioning the whole point of his existence.”

The Lego Movie Sequel is scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 18, 2018.
