One doesn’t become an Italian Stallion — let alone the Italian Stallion — without working for it.
As is hammered home by the Rocky movies’ signature training montages, achieving boxing immortality requires punishing, occasionally unorthodox workouts: punching slabs of raw meat, skipping rope, bouncing a rubber ball, chasing chickens, clapping along to a player piano, dragging an old man through the snow on a sled, and even running in slow motion on the beach with one’s best friend/arch rival.
Just in time for the Rocky sequel Creed — which finds Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) training Apollo Creed’s son, Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) — Thrillist has cut together a montage of training montages from the first six movies. (Watch it above.)
Not to be outdone, Jordan recently posted a sort of training montage of his own, chronicling the work he put in to portray Adonis. See how it matches up below.
