Michael B. Jordan continues the legacy of Rocky with Creed, in which he portrays the son of Apollo Creed. Actor Carl Weathers is known for playing the boxing legend opposite Sylvester Stallone‘s Rocky Balboa in the iconic film franchise, and he had nothing but praise to offer the young star stepping into his shoes.

Weathers tweeted to Jordan on Friday, “You did well for the CREED name! Congrats on [a] great job, my friend. May your success continue.” In a separate exchange with a fan, he said the film “will entertain a lot of people. [Director Ryan] Coogler did a great job. Sly’s never been better. Go see it!”

This exchange mostly stemmed from Jordan’s earlier tweet about growing up loving Weathers and Stallone. In his response to the Rocky star’s kind words, the actor wrote, “Man this means everything!”

Weathers attended Creed‘s Los Angeles premiere on Nov. 19, where he shook hands with Jordan and posed next to him and his former Rocky co-star Stallone. The film opens in theates on Wednesday.
