Matt Damon famously responded to being named PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive of 2007 by elucidating all the reasons he wasn’t the sexiest man alive. But that wasn’t his only response.

When PEOPLE and EW editorial director Jess Cagle, PEOPLE features director Zoe Ruderman, and PEOPLE executive editor Liz Sporkin discussed the history of “Sexiest Man Alive” on EW Radio on Friday afternoon, they revealed that Damon also sent editors a case of wine out of gratitude for the honor. Channing Tatum, for his part, sent cupcakes when he won the honor in 2012, but other honorees apparently haven’t been as forthcoming.

Cagle also revealed that Sexiest Man Alive wasn’t always the blockbuster honor it is now. In fact, there was no Sexiest Man Alive in 1994. Listen below to find out who Cagle and the PEOPLE staff retroactively awarded for that year.
