Even though the Night Before star has already clarified that his joke about wanting to run Donald Trump’s campaign was just that — a joke — Anthony Mackie still had to put the idea to rest during his Thrursday appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

Answering a viewer call-in, Mackie, sitting alongside his Night Before costar Seth Rogen, definitively explained that he is not endorsing Republican candidate Trump — or any other candidate for that matter.

“It was a huge misunderstanding … I’m not endorsing anyone because there’s 75 candidates right now,” Mackie said.

“And until they start talking about something that matters, why would you endorse someone,” he explained, adding that he hasn’t yet watched any of the debates, either.

When Mackie told BET in an October interview that “I would 100 percent want to run Trump’s campaign,” his comments were taken literally. Following some outcry, the actor was forced to clarify on Twitter, writing, “Sorry Donald, that wasn’t an endorsement. Just a bad attempt at a joke, I guess?”
