The Baywatch reboot has its first female lifeguard! Dwayne Johnson revealed Wednesday that his San Andreas costar Alexandra Daddario has joined the cast of the film based on the ’90s TV series.
“[I] Want to welcome the talented and gorgeous @alexannadaddario to the cast of #BAYWATCH for the role of ‘Summer,'” Johnson wrote on Instagram. “Alex is a one of kind woman (I know from experience) and can’t wait for you guys to see her own the role.”
On Twitter, Daddario wrote that she was excited to join Johnson in the cast. “Been practicing my slow-mo run all morning,” she joked.
As Deadline reported earlier this month, Daddario was on the short list for actresses being considered for the female lead, along with Ashley Benson, Nina Dobrev, and Alexandra Shipp. “The female roles of #BAYWATCH have become extremely hot properties around Hollywood and as promised, the quality women we’ll cast are stepping into these roles to have fun and make them iconic for the world to enjoy,” Johnson added on Instagram.
