We’re only a few weeks away from NBC’s Dec. 3 live production of the classic Broadway show The Wiz starring Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige and Ne-Yo. But what about producers’ Craig Zadan and Neil Meron’s other highly anticipated project, Bombshell, the Marilyn Monroe musical from Smash? IT’S. HAPPENING. A stage adaptation of Bombshell, the show within a show on NBC’s cult hit, was announced in June but little has been heard since then.

“We’re currently putting together the creative team,” says Meron. Adds Zadan, “I would say that [work on] Bombshell slowed down a tiny bit because Bob Greenblatt asked us to focus on The Wiz. The moment The Wiz is up and running, we’ll go back and focus on Bombshell. So once this airs, we’ll be jumping in on Bombshell. You can’t do two huge things at the same time. You can but you also have a nervous breakdown.”
