Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans

Arguably the biggest star of the ’60s and inarguably the king of cool, Steve McQueen was obsessed with auto racing. In 1970 he staked his career on a film on the subject, called Le Mans. This engrossingly intimate documentary chronicles the speed bumps along the way and puts you behind the wheel at 240 mph, convincing you that the film’s failure broke McQueen’s heart. It’s a great making-of tale about a very mediocre movie. B
