Many film critics found fault with Spectre and its confounding third act, and so too did Pierce Brosnan.

The former Bond star said in an interview with HitFix that he thought the latest 007 feature “too long” and ultimately disappointing.

“I was looking forward to it enormously,” said Brosnan. “The story was kind of weak — it could have been condensed. It kind of went on too long. It really did.”

Brosnan, who played the secret agent from 1995 to 2002, went on to say that he thought Spectre was a weird hybrid of James Bond and Jason Bourne, the agent played by Matt Damon in the Bourne movies.

“Am I in a Bond movie? Not in a Bond movie?” Brosnan said.

Despite his critiques, however, Brosnan said he thought Daniel Craig was a “mighty warrior” in the role — a sentiment he’s had since seeing Skyfall in 2013.

“I loved it,” Brosnan said of that film during an interview in 2013. “Daniel gives 150 percent of himself to it constantly, both physically and emotionally. He’s a Bond for this age and this time.”
