We warned you that Andy was going to be returning to Arrow — we just didn’t say how.
“We’ll definitely be seeing Andy coming up in future episodes and we’ll get some pretty shocking answers about what happened to him,” executive producer Wendy Mericle recently told EW. According to the promo for this week’s episode, what happened to Andy (Eugene Byrd) is that he’s apparently still alive, but under the control of Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough).
A few episodes prior, John Diggle (David Ramsey) was given evidence that his brother’s shady deeds were what got him killed, which has only affirmed his passion in wanting to take down Damien Darhk and H.I.V.E. “There’s more than one reason that he obviously has to get to the bottom of what’s going on with H.I.V.E.,” Ramsey says. “There has to be a finishing through-line to this Andy-Diggle story, which has really been [going on] since season 1, and finding out what his involvement was with H.I.V.E. really adds fuel to the fire in terms of him getting to the bottom of it.”
“What you’re going to learn about Diggle is just how much he is committed, how much this team has become his family,” Ramsey continues. “That idea is going to be repeated through each character — through Oliver, through Felicity, through Diggle — that this is the family.”
In fact, Diggle’s drive to uncover the truth about what happened to his brother will only cement the family. “There will be some division in terms of Diggle, because Diggle is going to get even more entrenched in this whole H.I.V.E. business and what exactly their involvement was in the death of his brother,” Ramsey says. “Now, since Damien Darhk is on the scene, and he is so entrenched in H.I.V.E., it’s going to be require the whole team to be closer than ever before, because Damien Darhk is a badass.”
Arrow airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
