Brendan Coyle has spent the last five years as Mr. Bates in Downton Abbey, but he does a complete 180 in the new dark drama, Spotless.
In Esquire Network’s first scripted series, Coyle plays a menacing mob boss named Nelson Clay. The exclusive clip below gives a peek into the mind of Clay: “Here, I give the orders, and I decide who gets mercy and who doesn’t,” he says.

The London-set series follows Jean Bastiere (Marc-André Grondin) – the owner of Jean’s Crime Scene Cleaning – whose world get complicated when his brother, Martin (Denis Ménochet), crashes in to cause trouble. The two get involved in Clay’s gang and become embroiled in crime and danger.
Co-created by Ed McCardie (Shameless) and Corinne Marrinan (CSI), the show is described as a mix of Dexter, Breaking Bad, and Shameless. Watch the trailer ahead of the premiere on Saturday, 10 p.m. ET on Esquire Network.
