Shonda Rhimes, creator of hit ABC shows Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away with Murder released her memoir, Year of Yes on Tuesday. Year of Yes is the introverted Rhimes’ chronicle of a year in which she said “yes” to everything — even things that scared her — after her sister accused her of always saying “no.”

Below, EW presents an exclusive clip of an interview with Rhimes about writing the book, and what she learned in the process. To get your copy of the Year of Yes audiobook, read by the author, head to Simon & Schuster.
