Pentatonix to perform Star Wars score at American Music Awards
Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens
The release of a new Star Wars movie is nearly as big a musical event as it is a cinematic one thanks to the iconic work of Oscar- and Grammy-winning composer John Williams.
To celebrate the occasion, the massively popular a cappella group Pentatonix will perform Williams’ score, backed by a full orchestra, at the 2015 American Music Awards, which will broadcast live on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. ET.
The show will also include appearances by One Direction, Carrie Underwood, Selena Gomez, and 5 Seconds of Summer. Jennifer Lopez is hosting.
The AMA performance will mark the second time in 2015 that Pentatonix has had a major movie crossover. Earlier this year, the group, which currently boasts over 9.3 million YouTube subscribers, made a cameo appearance in Pitch Perfect 2.
The AMAs are decided by fan votes. Voting is now open and will close for most of the categories on Nov. 11.
