A Tribe Called Quest’s landmark debut record People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm turned 25 in April. To commemorate the silver anniversary, Cee Lo Green, Pharrell and J. Cole were recruited to rework some of the album’s tracks. We’ve already heard Cee Lo’s take on “Footprints” and Pharrell’s “Bonita Applebum” remix, and now we can listen to J Cole’s go at “Can I Kick It?”

Cole only swaps out the original beat, which samples Lou Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side” with something equally relaxed and without bombast. It remains the Q-Tip and Phife Dawg show, with not even as much of a shoutout from the “Wet Dreamz” musician.

The People’s Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm reissue is out Friday. Check Cole’s take on “Can I Kick It?” below.
