Scrat goes to space in new Ice Age short
Pre-feature shorts have become a fixture for popular animated films, and audiences who turned out for The Peanuts Movie‘s opening weekend got treated to a fresh five-minute clip featuring Scrat, the acorn-loving squirrel from the Ice Age movies.
The clip shows Scrat as he discovers a high-tech control center underground on Earth that catapults him and his beloved acorn into space for a calamitous journey through the solar system. It’s available in full below, via 20th Century Fox’s Twitter.
The film franchise is set to return in July with its fifth installment, Ice Age: Collision Course, which will follow Scrat, Manny, Sid, and the rest of the gang as they deal with events Scrat sets in motion during his extraterrestrial journey. Collision Course follows 2012’s Ice Age: Continental Drift.
The Peanuts Movie earned an estimated $45 million in its opening weekend.
