Star Wars: The Force Awakens international trailer
Though the latest Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer came with the promise of being the final trailer, a new Japanese version of that trailer delivers plenty of new footage filled with new threats, new battles, and more BB-8.
Front and center to the entire trailer is Daisy Ridley’s Rey, with BB-8 along for the ride.
“I know all about waiting … for my family,” she tells BB-8 as the two walk through the desert. But perhaps more surprising than the additional footage of Rey on her search is who appears with her in one particular moment. As seen above, Kylo Ren threatens Rey at one point with his crossguard lightsaber.
Watch the trailer below to see a surprising amount of new scenes from the film. C-3PO and Leia appear together in one scene (as well as Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron, who appears standing in the background behind 3PO), Finn and Rey introduce themselves to each other, more ground and aeriel combat is shown off, and, thankfully, there is plenty of BB-8. And though the new trailer may present Rey with a new threat to her life, it ends on a note of new hope for what’s to come.
“Hope is not lost today. It is found,” the voiceover of what sounds like Lupita Nyong’o says.
The Force Awakens opens in theaters on Dec. 18. Watch the trailer, which appeared on Disney’s Japanese YouTube page, below.
