Doc Martin

The town of Portwenn is about to get its most famous visitor yet — Sigourney Weaver will appear in the newest epsiode of the Acorn TV (originally ITV) medical dramedy Doc Martin.

The Golden Globe-winning actress decided to make a rare TV appearance out of her love for the show and for her longtime friend Selina Cadell, who plays pharmicist Mrs. Tishell on Doc Martin. Weaver met the eponymous Doc Martin star Martin Clunes at a media event earlier in 2015, where she tole him that she’d love to be on his show. The writers created the part of an American tourist for her, and she flew to Cornwall to film it.

In the episode, Weaver will play an American tourist who argues with Doc Martin over medication, and urges his receptionist Morwenna to assert herself when he speaks to her rudely.

The episode “Facta Non Verba” will be released on Acorn TV on Monday.
