Seth Rogen’s latest role in The Night Before required the Steve Jobs actor to pretend as if he embarked on a “crazy, drug-fueled adventure,” as Jimmy Kimmel explained on Wednesday night. And to no surprise to the late-night talk show host, Rogen had a few real-life stories he used to inform the role, including one memorable visit to Amsterdam.

Rogen appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live, and following a clip from his upcoming holiday comedy, Rogen detailed his time as an 18-year-old getting high in Amsterdam off of mushrooms. The story includes a “nonsensical picnic,” plenty of angered and confused Dutch people, and such paranoia that Rogen and his friend ended their trip in another country.

The Night Before — “Jesus would love it! Jesus seems like he has a great sense of humor,” Rogen said of the film — which also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Anthony Mackie, opens in theaters on Nov. 20. Rogen can also currently be seen as Steve Wozniak alongside Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs.
