'Supergirl' ratings fall without 'Big Bang Theory'
Supergirl ratings just took a dive.
Without a Big Bang Theory lead-in for its second episode, the fall’s most-watched new series dropped by nearly a third on Monday night.
Airing at 8 p.m. instead of 9 this week, Supergirl was seen by 8.9 million viewers and had a 2.2 rating among adults 18–49. That’s down 29 percent in the adult demo.

Supergirl was also beaten in the hour by NBC’s The Voice (3.2), yet easily dominated Fox’s own superhero show Gotham (1.6), along with ABC’s Dancing With the Stars (1.9). CBS points out Supergirl managed to tie NBC’s 10 p.m. freshman drama Blindspot (2.2) at the night’s biggest scripted show (only without Blindspot’s big Voice lead in). CBS projects Supergirl will grow by about 65 percent with DVR over the coming week.
After making such a strong impression for its premiere with help from TV’s top-rated comedy, Supergirl was expected to drop last night, the only question was by how much. This return is probably within the realm of what was anticipated … yet more than CBS would have liked.
