UPDATE: Demi Lovato’s production team has responded to Sleigh Bells’ allegations that the singer sampled the band’s songs “Infinity Guitars” and “Riot Rhythms” in her track “Stars,” off her new album Confident.

“We did not use any samples in Demi Lovato’s song ‘Stars.’ Demi was also not involved with the production. She only wrote top line,” producers Carl Falk and Rami told EW in a statement. Both have writing credits on the song as well.

A rep for Sleigh bells, though, confirmed to EW that the band will take action. “I can confirm that the band feels their music has been sampled without proper clearance and are seeking all available remedies with [Lovato’s label] Island Records,” the rep said in a statement.

EARLIER: Demi Lovato’s new album Confident has generated lots of positive buzz since its release. But there might be a legal situation down the road.

Indie duo Sleigh Bells accused the 23-year-old pop star of sampling two of their songs on her single “Stars” — without permission. The band’s Twitter account tweeted directly at Lovato’s.
